My Story might inspire you!
Throughout my career journey, I encountered a pivotal moment in 2013 when the government agency I was working for underwent a merger, resulting in the closure of our regional offices, including mine. Presented with options, I had to make a decision: either relocate to the capital and continue in the same role or explore new opportunities at the same professional level. However, I seized an alternative path, one that involved personal growth, learning from my mistakes, and overcoming trials.
Opting for a fresh start, I embarked on a new career trajectory by pursuing a CPA designation, driven by promises of lucrative compensation and perpetual demand for my expertise. Enrolling in a highly regarded local business school, I attended an information session that kindled my passion for the field, thus igniting my journey—an arduous expedition characterized by self-exploration, introspection, and resilience.
In due course, I came to realize that the nature of the CPA profession did not align with my innate inclinations and preferences. The monotonous routine of being tethered to a computer, scrutinizing numbers and charts, failed to resonate with me. My quest became an inner struggle as I grappled with the realization that I had embarked on a path ill-suited to my abilities and aspirations. Nonetheless, driven by determination, I persevered, successfully passing the national examination.
However, the designation of CPA necessitated securing full-time employment. Circumstances compelled me to relocate to the United States, specifically San Francisco, where my husband had already relocated following his own job loss as a scientist. This relocation meant starting anew in a foreign land, navigating different legal frameworks, and undertaking the daunting task of rebuilding my career from scratch. I found myself retracing my academic steps, reenrolling in courses previously completed, and clearing the required examinations. These decisions weighed heavily upon me, as doubts and aversions clouded my mindset. It was during this period of contemplation that I underwent a profound transformation. Delving deep within myself, I unearthed my true passions, dreams, and inherent strengths. I discovered an unwavering desire to empower and assist others, striving to be a catalyst for positive change. It became evident that my natural inclination lay in connecting with people, immersing myself in social interactions, and contributing to leadership development. One particular course on leadership during my CPA journey had ignited a fire within me, prompting animated participation and a desire to impress my peers.
I realized that time was of the essence; age had subtly begun to make its presence felt, etching lines upon my face and adorning my hair with white. It was time to seize control of my destiny, to honor my heart’s desires, and to make a difference in both my own life and the world at large. Aware of my aptitude and the joy I found in helping others, I resolved to follow my passion and utilize my talents to their fullest extent.
My association with the Maxwell Leadership Certified Team provided the grounding to substantiate the theories I had long believed to be true. It armed me with the knowledge, strategies, and practical tips required to enact positive change. I uncovered my purpose—my raison d’être—and it is now a privilege to live it every day. Guided by this newfound clarity, I aspire to assist others in discovering their own passions, achieving professional success, and becoming effective leaders. Everyone deserves the opportunity to love what they do and excel at it, while also guiding their teams towards success.
In conclusion, I believe that life’s journey is characterized by twists, turns, and unexpected challenges. By staying true to ourselves, understanding our strengths, and embracing our true passions, we can forge a fulfilling career that serves not only our own happiness but also the betterment.
